Anchor House is located in the most socially deprived ward in Newham, London. Newham is the 6the most deprived borough in the UK and Anchor House fully supports this exciting new EU programme which aims to focus on tackling the issue of poverty through the enouragement of new local initiatives.
In the UK, this programme will be run by DWP, who have just launched it’s national programme which it hopes will emphasise both collective and individual responsibility in the fight against poverty and social exclusion and they have identified four strands:
* working age poverty
* child poverty
* older people and poverty
* severe and multiple deprivation.
