On Sunday 29th April, at the prestigious Sadler’s Wells, City Music Services put on a fantastic show featuring choirs from top law firms, banks and schools, all in aid of East London homeless charity Anchor House and their Home and Hope Appeal.
The Appeal aims to transform Anchor House into a 21st century facility and fit-for-purpose complex, so we are able to continue to turn around the lives of East London’s homeless.
On the night, Anchor House Patron and former boxing champion Barry McGuigan MBE made a special guest appearance with the All Stars band, and belted out a brilliant rendition of “Danny Boy” amongst others!
Barry said “I had a ball at the Sadler’s Wells event, and hope everyone enjoyed my contribution.
The Orchestra and choirs were magnificent, and it was all for a good cause! Anchor House is doing an amazing job in turning around the lives of East London’s homeless, so a big thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.”
Guests were also wowed by performances from The National Symphony Orchestra, choirs from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, Allen & Overy LLP, Royal Bank of Canada and The Financial Times, four East London schools (The Christ Church Primary, The Sir John Cass Foundation Primary, Stepney Greencoat and Haggerston School) and of course Anchor House’s very own choir made up of staff and homeless residents.
Eve O’Keefe, a Lifestyle Architect at Anchor House and a lead with the residents’ choir said “Performing at Sadler’s Wells was a great honour and we hope now to perform more frequently to a wider section of our community.
Our choir was formed just nine months ago, with a solid core of enthusiastic music-loving residents. We try to echo the experiences or future aspirations of each choir member and indeed our wider group of residents. The choir did a brilliant job on the night, we are very proud of them!”
