Inspired by London Marathon? Take part in the Charity Walk for Peace!

28th April 2017
If the London Marathon has inspired you to pull on your trainers and join the running (or walking) boom that’s sweeping the country, you don’t need to go very far, as the next big event is right on Newham’s doorstep.

In just over two weeks’ time, Caritas Anchor House will be taking part in this year’s Charity Walk for Peace, and we’re looking for people to join us and take part, to support our vital work with homeless people in Newham.

When: Sunday, 14 May 2017
Where: Starts and ends at 1000 Dockside, Silvertown, Newham, E16 2QU.
Day Programme:
8.30am - Welcome & Registration
10.30am- Opening Ceremony, Start of Walk
12.30pm - Lunch, followed by Concluding Session

The gentle 10K walk – following a scenic route along the waterside - is free to enter and there is also an alternative, shorter route so participants can decide how far they wish to go. A free breakfast and lunch is provided, and there will be complimentary refreshments throughout.

The Charity Walk for Peace, now in its 28th year, is organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association and aims to develop strong, cohesive communities and supports charities that provide practical help to vulnerable and marginalised people.

Last year, the walk was attended by over 2,500 people and raised over half a million pounds which was distributed to various local and national charities, including Caritas Anchor House. This year’s event is set to be even bigger and has a fundraising target of £750,000.

Each donation which walkers raise for Caritas Anchor House will be match funded (up to £2,000) and will help us to continue our vital work supporting homeless people in East London.

To sign up to take part in the walk for Caritas Anchor House, visit the Charity Walk for Peace website. You can also sponsor the staff and residents walking on their JustGiving page here.
